The following checklist is designed to focus on several key items
a buyer should be sure to address when preparing for the relocation of an office.
[ ] Consider hiring an office relocation consultant. Their
expertise can save time and prevent frustrating situations.
[ ] Establish a certain date and time that you would like to move
on. All other plans will revolve around this key date.
[ ] When hiring a moving company, be certain that they have
relevant experience to your company’s moving needs.
[ ] Discuss the move and its effects with your employees.
[ ] Decide which items from the office need relocation and which
items will be purchased new.
[ ] Be certain that the new location has the infrastructure
necessary to support your technological needs.
[ ] Draft a contact information list (names and numbers of
individuals at the company) so that while the office relocation is taking place, it is possible to
reach important individuals.
[ ] Decide if you want the relocation company to help setup your
new office (certain companies office this specialty).
[ ] Contact the municipality of the location your moving the
office to and find out if you require a permit to block the street during the unloading of your
items.
[ ] Inquire with the mover as to how they plan on protecting the
walls and floors at both your current location and the new location.
[ ] Before the move, ask your new landlord for enough copies of
the keys so that you can provide them to all the employees that will need them once the office
relocation is complete.
